Carlisle welcome new Head Coach Graham Kidd for the forthcoming season

Carlisle Rugby Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Kidd as the new head coach, bringing with him decades of rugby knowledge and a deep-rooted connection to the club.
An experienced RFU Level 2 coach, Graham has amassed a wealth of rugby experience over the years. He served with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for 19 years as a community coach, a role that took him across Cumbria and provided him with invaluable insight into the region and the leagues in which Carlisle competes.
In addition to his RFU tenure, Graham has coached in the Developing Player Programme (DPP) and county representative structures for over 20 years, helping to nurture and guide young rugby talent throughout the county.
A true product of Carlisle Rugby Club, Graham began his rugby journey with the club and represented the first team for many years. His career later included a short spell as player-coach at Creighton Rugby Club before returning to Carlisle to take on a similar role with the second team. His leadership and coaching development at that level eventually led him to become assistant coach for the first team.
Following this, Graham took up a player-coach role with Egremont Rugby Club, further broadening his coaching experience. Most recently, he returned once again to Carlisle Rugby Club, providing support and playing for the second team—demonstrating his continued commitment and passion for the club.
Club officials are confident that Graham’s deep understanding of the game, extensive coaching background, and lifelong connection to Carlisle Rugby will provide a strong foundation for the future.
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome Graham into the head coach role,” said Martin Plummer. “His experience, both on and off the field, and his knowledge of local rugby make him the ideal person to lead us forward.”
Graham said that he "Is very much looking forward to working with the lads and will be planning preseason shortly with the group of coaches"
