Sam was invited to an England Rugby Women in Coaching event held as part of the run up to the RWC in 2025

Sam was the sole Cumbria representative at England Rugby's Women in coaching event held at Leicester Tigers recently.

She was invited as part of her Every Rose Scholarship. The occasion was to explore the coaching and refereeing journey in women's rugby, looking at Rugby World Cup 2025 opportunities to attract and develop more match officials and coaches.

There were some big names there like players Sarah Hunter and Shanaugh Brown, as well as her coaching mentor Tamara Taylor, who captained England in the 2015 RWC and is the second most capped England player of all time.

The day was to focus on getting more women involved in rugby and to build on targets set towards the 2025 World Cup. As the only Cumbria female coach representative, it was great for her to meet other coaches from across the country and to listen to Lou Meadows the first Head Coach for u20 women's team, and hear her journey, juggling work, family and moving into an professional role in coaching, was inspiring.

Congratulations Sam. The club is lucky to have someone with your dedication to women and girls rugby.
