Carlisle travelled to Manchester on Sunday to play their last league game of the season on Sunday and following two disappointing results they were hoping to finish with a win and end their season on the a high. With injury and unavailability playing its part Carlisle made the journey short of backs but still with a strong squad.

The game started well for the Cougars with centres Holly Freestone and Hannah Sherlock cutting through the Manchester defence managing to get 5 tries between them in the first half, with Sherlock getting two and Freestone a first half hat trick. Credit to the Manchester defence they made their first up tackles well but Carlisle managed to play the phases and used their wingers and full back Philippa Bell maintain a flowing game in the first half.

The second half did not see the same flowing rugby, Carlisle suffered losing 2 players to the sin bin. Captain Sam Meakin taking a card for the team due to numerous infringements around the ruck. Before Sherlock was forced to watch the last 5 minutes due to a tackle the referee deemed dangerous.

Further tries in the second half came from Lucy Meadley and two from Lisa Ritchie leaving the final score 55-5. Players player went to Holly Freestone for another great game in both attack and defence with Lisa Ritchie taking Coaches player for a commanding performance at fly half controlling the game with her boot and calm head.
