Sunday 18th September saw Carlisle U15’s, on the road again, this time travelling to Percy Park, to participate in the 5th Percy Park Friendly festival.
Carlisle were drawn in a pool along with Percy Park, Alnwick and Northern.
The Percy Park team consisted, in large part, of the Northumberland U15 County side and during the first game Carlisle’s 13 man squad came out losers 30 - 0.
The first defeat did not affect the Carlisle boys who went straight back out against Alnwick and drubbed then 35 - 5 with tries scored by Oliver Burns x 2, Seamus Edwards, Euan Forlow, Paul Harrison, Thomas Maughan and Harry Reid.
The third game in the pool stages was played against Northern. With only seconds to go Carlisle were unable to pull back the 1 try advantage scored by Northern losing 5 - 0.
The exhausted Carlisle squad then played Novos in the Vase Final and with only 1 try scored by Oliver Burns they were again beaten by bigger squad numbers.
But at the end of the day the Carlisle boys displayed great heart and some exciting rugby which will show benefits when the full squad are back together again.
